A usable planning baseline

See the likely investment before entering a sales process.

Most businesses want to know whether managed IT is financially realistic before scheduling a consultation. These published starting prices establish a credible range while leaving room to account for the systems and risks that make each environment different.

Hudson MSP uses the assessment to define responsibility—not to hide the price. The proposal should make the recurring fee, onboarding work, included services, separate costs, service boundaries, and change conditions easy to understand.

What affects the final price

Managed IT pricing follows the responsibility Hudson MSP accepts.

Two businesses with the same number of employees can require very different levels of support. These are the major factors reviewed before a final proposal is prepared.

Locations and onsite needs

Office count, geographic coverage, hands-on support expectations, site complexity, travel, and multi-location standardization.

04

Microsoft 365 and cloud

Licensing, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID, Intune, migrations, and cloud administration needs.

05

Cybersecurity requirements

Endpoint security, email protection, MDR, identity controls, security awareness, log monitoring, and incident readiness.

06

Compliance and risk

Regulatory obligations, evidence requirements, security policies, legacy systems, sensitive data, and third-party dependencies.

Backup and recovery

Protected systems, data volume, retention, cloud backup, recovery objectives, restore testing, and continuity planning.

08

Coverage and response

Business hours, escalation expectations, after-hours needs, emergency support, service levels, and project requirements.

From estimate to agreement

How Hudson MSP develops the final managed IT price

The process is designed to expose hidden dependencies before they become support gaps, unexpected charges, or transition problems.

Discover

Review users, devices, locations, Microsoft 365, cloud systems, servers, networks, vendors, backups, and current concerns.

Assess

Identify aging systems, access risks, documentation gaps, security needs, backup uncertainty, and transition requirements.

Define

Document what is included, what is excluded, which party owns each responsibility, and which work is project-based.

Price

Prepare a proposal based on the verified environment, selected service level, onboarding work, licensing, and agreed coverage.

Clear commercial boundaries

What recurring managed IT generally includes—and what may be separate

Common recurring coverage

  • Qualifying remote user support during covered hours
  • Monitoring, authorized remote access, and patch management
  • Endpoint security appropriate to the selected plan
  • Microsoft 365 administration within defined scope
  • Asset and system documentation
  • Routine vendor coordination
  • Security and backup oversight included in the plan
  • Technology reviews and reporting when specified

Common separate costs

  • Microsoft, cloud, backup, and third-party licenses
  • Hardware, freight, warranties, and procurement
  • Major migrations, replacements, upgrades, and new sites
  • Cabling, construction, and specialized field work
  • After-hours, emergency, or incident-response work outside scope
  • Digital forensics and specialist partner services
  • Extraordinary travel or out-of-area support
  • Work caused by unsupported or end-of-life systems

The signed proposal and service agreement control the final scope. “Unlimited support” applies only to qualifying routine support for covered users and systems during the defined support period; it does not mean unlimited projects, onsite labor, migrations, emergencies, or third-party expenses.

Pricing questions

Frequently asked questions about managed IT costs

How much do managed IT services cost per user?

Hudson MSP plans currently start at $145 per user per month for Essential Managed IT, $195 for Complete Managed IT, $265 for Secure Managed IT, and $105 for Co-Managed IT. Final pricing depends on the environment and the responsibilities included.

Why does Hudson MSP use monthly minimums?

Every client requires a baseline level of monitoring, documentation, management tools, security configuration, account administration, readiness, and ongoing oversight. Monthly minimums ensure those core responsibilities can be delivered consistently even when the user count is small.

Are Microsoft 365 licenses included?

Microsoft 365 administration can be included within the managed service scope, but Microsoft license costs are generally separate unless the proposal expressly includes them.

Is onsite IT support included?

Limited onsite support may be included in Complete or Secure Managed IT when specifically defined. Other onsite work is priced separately according to the agreement, location, urgency, and type of work.

Does the monthly fee include cybersecurity?

Yes, each plan includes a defined security level. Essential provides foundational endpoint security; Complete adds broader endpoint and email protection; Secure can add MDR/SOC services, identity controls, awareness training, vulnerability management, and incident-response planning.

What does onboarding cost?

Small-client onboarding begins at a $1,500 minimum. Standard onboarding is generally $150 per user, while complex or security-heavy onboarding generally begins at $225 per user. The final amount reflects the transition work required.

Can Hudson MSP work alongside our existing IT employee?

Yes. Co-Managed IT starts at $105 per user per month with a suggested $2,500 monthly minimum. Hudson MSP and the internal team document ownership for help desk, endpoints, cybersecurity, projects, vendors, infrastructure, and escalation.

Will our price change if we add employees or locations?

It may. Material changes in users, devices, servers, sites, security obligations, support hours, or infrastructure can require a service adjustment. The agreement should define how those changes are reviewed and priced.

Can we receive an exact quote before an assessment?

Hudson MSP can provide an initial planning range, but an exact proposal requires enough discovery to understand the systems and responsibilities involved. This prevents important infrastructure, licensing, security, or transition costs from being hidden.
